SEO basics for editors

Make useful pages easy to understand and discover.

Start with the content: a specific title, a clear introduction, useful headings, and descriptive links help readers find their way.

Before publishing:

  1. Check that the page answers a real reader question.
  2. Give it an accurate title and concise summary.
  3. Link to it from relevant pages, menus, or collections.
  4. Check its public URL, image, and language versions.
  5. Review the page-level SEO Content fields if your role uses them.

SEO fields provide information to search engines; they do not guarantee a ranking or a particular search-result snippet. Avoid repeating keywords unnaturally. Ask your website manager about site-wide search settings rather than changing unfamiliar technical fields.
