Zotonic won’t start and shows errors when running zotonic debug<\/h3>\n

Check your site’s database configuration.<\/p>\n

Check PostgreSQL Authentication Config (pg_hba.conf<\/span><\/code> in \/etc\/postgresql<\/span><\/code>).<\/p>\n

If you get connection failures when starting Zotonic you should\ndouble-check pg_hba.conf<\/span><\/code> and make sure to \/etc\/init.d\/postgresql<\/span>\nreload<\/span><\/code> to make sure it gets loaded.<\/p>\n

The pg_hba.conf<\/span><\/code> should contain something like:<\/p>\n

The priv directory should also be\nsoft linked in the _build<\/span><\/code> directory: _build\/default\/lib\/yoursite\/priv\/zotonic_site.config<\/span><\/code><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Browsers can’t connect to http:\/\/yoursite.test:8000<\/a><\/h3>\n
Check the \/etc\/hosts<\/span><\/code> file and make sure you have an entry like the following:<\/p>\n

Browsers give self-signed certificate warning<\/h3>\n
If you connect to https:\/\/yoursite.test:8443<\/span><\/code> the browser warns that the\nsite is not trusted. This is correct, as the certificate is self-signed.<\/p>\n
You can connect if you accept the certificate. For Safari and Firefox just follow\nthe instructions shown to you by the browser.<\/p>\n
For Chrome you have to do something silly:<\/p>\n\n

  • Click anywhere in the white on the window<\/li>\n
  • Type: thisisunsafe<\/span><\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/p>\n
    You won‘t see any characters echo to the screen.
