[09:42:39] <arjan> the issue with bootstrap in the admin is that it is customized, it is different from the generic bootstrap framework.
[09:42:58] <arjan> I recorded those changes into a branch, here: https://github.com/zotonic/bootstrap/commits/zotonic-admin
[09:45:23] <jarimatti> Thanks. I had a quick look at those earlier.
[09:46:42] <jarimatti> I’m not sure how to introduce those customizations to Bootstrap 3. It seems that they are doable (column width, total width and color changes).
[09:47:40] <jarimatti> On the other hand I’ll probably check what the admin interface looks with vanilla Bootstrap 3.
[09:48:16] <jarimatti> Can you tell me why the ”success” is removed from the field state (commit https://github.com/zotonic/bootstrap/commit/5bf689e9b1c4eb5001158f7d4d607fa39d7d112b
[09:49:23] <arjan> iirc,
[09:49:49] <arjan> it was because the label of form fields was colored green while you were entering it,
[09:49:55] <arjan> it was very ugly especially in the login form
[09:50:09] <jarimatti> Ok, thanks.
[09:50:26] <arjan> and there was no way to override it properly in the normal zotonic admin css
[09:50:43] <arjan> that's the downside of those generated css files.. it makes it hard to override stuff
[11:17:53] Steffen Hanikel joins the room
[12:07:35] <Marc Worrell> And what if we use less to generate the css on the fly?
[12:08:08] <Marc Worrell> I am working on the file serving, that could be part of it (in the rather interesting FSMs I am working with…)
[12:12:46] <jarimatti> Would that have an effect to user-visible page load times?
[12:13:08] <jarimatti> Actually no, if the result is cached.
[12:15:17] Steffen Hanikel leaves the room
[12:19:39] <Marc Worrell> Indeed, only an initial slow down
[12:20:18] <jarimatti> That could be very nice indeed! For science, of course.
[12:28:35] <arjan> I would make it more generic, not only for less but also for .sass, .scss
[12:28:43] <arjan> and even coffeescript, clojurescript, *script..
[12:29:18] <jarimatti> +1
[12:29:21] <arjan> YUI compressor for JS, etc
[12:30:22] <arjan> https://github.com/kriswallsmith/assetic for inspiration
[12:30:31] <arjan> or the rails asset pipe line, for that matter :p
[12:32:31] <jarimatti> I’d also like to be able to extend it with modules. Thus only make a frame, add generators as needed.
[13:00:18] Steffen Hanikel joins the room
[13:47:39] <Marc Worrell> I think we can do something with a generic extension mapping, so that modules can check if there is a source file for a requested css file
[13:48:31] <Marc Worrell> so we request file.css -> module finds file.less, and provides in memory representation of css file
[13:48:50] <Marc Worrell> (and should also provide the source files, for any up-to-date checks)
[13:54:53] <arjan> indeed and for generating the source maps
