[08:54:00] <Maas> Yikes... it is a race condition....
[08:54:22] <Andreas Stenius> where!?
[08:54:42] <Maas> In folsom_sample_exdec update
[08:54:47] <Andreas Stenius> oh
[08:54:58] <Maas> you can have multiple rescales triggered.
[08:55:31] <Maas> Then the first rescale deletes the table...
[08:55:52] <Maas> or the first finished.
[08:56:03] <Maas> eeks
[08:56:17] <Andreas Stenius> hmm... indeed, that doesn't look good
[08:56:44] <Maas> That is what marc was seeing.
[08:57:09] <Maas> Bound to happen a lot on running systems.
[08:57:51] <Andreas Stenius> if we don't use exdec, we can ignore this... :p
[08:58:07] <Maas> Yeah!
[08:58:28] <Maas> Checking the slide implementation...
[08:58:38] <Maas> Ostrich algorithm FTW!
[08:58:49] <Andreas Stenius> also take a look at this: https://github.com/boundary/folsom/issues/20
[09:01:16] <Maas> Nice :-)
[09:02:03] <Andreas Stenius> so at least they are aware of the issue... ;)
[09:02:24] <Andreas Stenius> but, they haven't solved it for the past 11 months... :/
[09:02:41] <Andreas Stenius> guessing boundary doesn't use exdec themselves...
[09:08:10] <Maas> I wonder if they use it at all.
[09:10:39] <Maas> pff they swapped out the use gen_server based counters in favour of ets. :-)
[09:20:19] <Maas> And now they want to start a process per metric and use cast to update the stuff.
[09:20:32] <Maas> No more parallel ets writes.
[09:20:48] <Marc Worrell> goooood morning :-)
[09:21:16] <Maas> :-) good morning indeed.
[09:21:25] <Andreas Stenius> mornin' :)
[09:22:05] <Marc Worrell> nice that you found the hole for the ostrich :-)
[09:22:15] <Maas> Who the heck is spamming via github. skillpage?
[09:22:35] <Andreas Stenius> I deleted one post from skillpages..
[09:22:47] <Andreas Stenius> but that was a week or so ago...
[09:22:59] <Maas> Me too, now I got a reminder...
[09:23:06] <Marc Worrell> I deleted the comment
[09:23:20] <Marc Worrell> I think Barco You git his address book imported
[09:23:37] <Marc Worrell> including all the temporary reply-to accounts of GitHub
[09:24:01] <Maas> Installed the wrong "free" app.
[09:25:06] <Marc Worrell> yep - too many of those
[09:30:16] <Marc Worrell> Free Raspberry Pi hosting: https://pcextreme.nl
[09:30:29] <Marc Worrell> :p Better get that Zotonic up & fast
[09:30:52] <Marc Worrell> hosting = colocation
[09:31:13] <Maas> The pi in the sky
[09:31:56] <Maas> Compiling will probably take a long time on the pi, just like on the atom
[09:32:05] <Marc Worrell> or longer
[09:32:07] <Maas> templates that is.
[09:32:28] <Marc Worrell> I saw that the quad core A15 is coming closer to what a real machine needs
[09:32:47] <Marc Worrell> we have to check where the template compile time goes
[09:32:58] <Maas> I recently moved compiling templates into a separate process. That should fix the crashing module indexer.
[09:32:58] <Marc Worrell> is it parsing or the erlang compiler?
[09:33:31] <Marc Worrell> what does the template compiler do with the module indexer?
[09:33:31] <Maas> Didn't profile it.
[09:33:50] <Marc Worrell> the template compiler was already in a separate process, wasn't it?
[09:34:10] <Marc Worrell> (made that way to prevent many compilations of the same template at the same time)
[09:34:42] <Maas> Indeed nothing, but in the old setup it crashed a lot on slow machines. Scanning directories is slow on the atom.
[09:35:04] <Maas> I still see that when I work on a branch which is a bit behind..
[09:35:39] <Marc Worrell> we need to update that Google Summer of Code thing in the coming days
[09:35:49] <Marc Worrell> I can do a bit over the weekend - I think
[09:35:53] <Maas> I usually see that when doing z:m() it flushes the cache.
[09:36:05] <Andreas Stenius> I updated it with the sugested template..
[09:36:07] <Marc Worrell> Or shall we make a Google Doc for that? Then we can all work at the same tim
[09:36:15] <Marc Worrell> @Andreas - Thanks!
[09:36:26] <Marc Worrell> And Andreas, fancy speaking in Stockholm? :p
[09:36:36] <Andreas Stenius> :p
[09:36:45] <Andreas Stenius> would be cool... but I have to think about that
[09:37:06] <Marc Worrell> Then you can speak Swedish :p All Erlang programmers need to know that language anyway
[09:37:06] <Andreas Stenius> not a fan of standing in front of a crowd.. :p
[09:37:26] <Andreas Stenius> well, the presentations usually are in english any way...
[09:37:33] <Marc Worrell> Not too big crowd - and quite informal actually
[09:37:35] <Andreas Stenius> not all atendee's know swedish :p
[09:37:43] <Andreas Stenius> I know.. I been to a couple of them
[09:37:53] <Andreas Stenius> but still...
[09:38:03] <Marc Worrell> Or maybe together with Arjan - then you get both free entrance :)
[09:38:10] <Andreas Stenius> +1 :)
[09:38:25] <Andreas Stenius> would feel better to not be alone, too ;)
[09:38:33] <Arjan> I'd like to go!
[09:38:43] <Marc Worrell> Ok, as Hannibal says: "Make a plan!"
[09:38:47] <Marc Worrell> A Team Go!
[09:38:48] <Marc Worrell> :p
[09:38:48] <Arjan> :P
[09:38:53] <Andreas Stenius> cool :D
[09:39:03] <Marc Worrell> I keep Mr T here in NL though
[09:39:09] <Arjan> I'll make a doc
[09:39:35] <Marc Worrell> The 10th is his half birthday and my wife's birthday - we planned a small holiday thing afterwards
[09:39:37] <Maas> Z Team
[09:39:42] <Arjan> hehe
[09:39:46] <Arjan> the Z team
[09:39:47] <Arjan> I like it
[09:39:51] <Marc Worrell> :p
[09:40:17] <Andreas Stenius> I'm in :)
[09:40:25] <Maas> Now we need a van.
[09:40:33] <Marc Worrell> I need to do some docs - and need to write down the p2p federation ideas Maas and I have been discussing
[09:40:34] <Maas> :p
[09:40:42] <Marc Worrell> And a tune - we need
[09:41:04] <Arjan> :)
[09:41:18] <Maas> I wonder what the next movie will be like.
[09:41:26] <Andreas Stenius> lol-
[09:41:48] <Arjan> marc - the slides of your zotonic talk, are they online somewhere?
[09:42:13] <Marc Worrell> The one at functional? Yes - on slideshare
[09:42:40] <Marc Worrell> you can get more technical there - and skip the easy parts
[09:42:59] <Arjan> you got a link?
[09:43:23] <Marc Worrell> Maybe Peet can adapt this for the Z Team? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21IuPJ04gEk
[09:43:24] <Marc Worrell> :p
[09:44:18] <Andreas Stenius> wasn't it on scribd? : http://zotonic.com/chatlogs/2013/02/15.html#10:53:40
[09:44:24] <Maas> Haha... fighting slow sites.
[09:44:32] <Arjan> tx andreas
[09:44:43] <Arjan> slideshare only showed my own presentations :P
[09:44:49] <Marc Worrell> haha, and I was thinking slideshare :p
[09:44:54] <Andreas Stenius> url man strikes again :p
[09:45:07] <Arjan> andreas, we can also do a zotonic tutorial on june 12, what do you think?
[09:45:10] <Arjan> zotonic installfest
[09:45:11] <Arjan> :P
[09:45:12] <Marc Worrell> 757 reads there
[09:45:31] <Andreas Stenius> indeed. that would be cool.
[09:45:33] <Arjan> I shared the google document, so if anyone wants to contrinute..
[09:45:41] <Arjan> k I'll start scribbling something about a tutorial
[09:45:42] <Marc Worrell> yes - a kind of hands on
[09:45:54] <Marc Worrell> people will love it
[09:46:15] <Andreas Stenius> we should capture those tutorials, so we can put it online afterwards.. ;)
[09:46:43] <Marc Worrell> run a screen cast program in the background - with a mic
[09:46:50] <Andreas Stenius> yeah
[09:47:07] <Andreas Stenius> just do some post processing/editing, then publish
[09:47:08] <Marc Worrell> then you can redo the sound later with a better mic in a quiet env
[09:56:18] <Arjan> feel free to amend / fix typo's etc
[09:56:36] <Andreas Stenius> ok :)
[09:57:38] <Arjan> Andreas Stenius: do you also want to co-present? or just help with the workshop?
[09:58:32] <Andreas Stenius> I don't know how much I can add, but I don't mind being there
[09:58:37] <Arjan> :)
[10:02:07] Maas leaves the room
[10:03:30] Maas joins the room
[10:06:48] <Arjan> anyone has anything to add to the submission?
[10:07:48] <Andreas Stenius> no, I think it looks good..
[10:07:57] <Maas> Perfect
[10:09:47] <Arjan> :P
[10:09:53] <Arjan> ok
[10:10:14] <Arjan> I'll just submit it then
[10:10:32] <Andreas Stenius> +1
[10:13:08] <Arjan> audience - intermediate?
[10:14:13] <Arjan> boom
[10:14:15] <Arjan> submitted
[10:14:25] <Andreas Stenius> cool
[10:36:59] <Marc Worrell> yeah :)
[10:37:05] <Marc Worrell> Stockholm is a nice town
[10:37:16] <Maas> Yep it is.
[10:37:51] <Andreas Stenius> would've been smooth if I sitll lived there... :p
[10:38:07] <Andreas Stenius> now I too need to find some place to stay..
[10:39:48] <Arjan> yeah me too
[10:40:16] <Maas> Would have loved to go on my rowingbike. Nice trip too.
