[11:21:06] <Marc Worrell> interesting problem with mod_survey initialization
[11:21:35] <Marc Worrell> mod_search is handling the #rsc_update{} of a newly inserted category.
[11:21:58] <Marc Worrell> But the insert is done inside a transaction.
[11:23:28] <Marc Worrell> Causing mod_search to deadlock on a query to fetch the category information, which is only available in the schema init transaction.
[11:24:30] <Marc Worrell> And then the schema init transaction can't continue, because mod_search is blocking a depcache memo lookup.
[11:28:32] <Marc Worrell> I am wondering what a good solution can be to this problem.
[11:35:15] Arjan joins the room
[11:40:55] <Arjan> Marc Worrell: you mean rsc_update_done?
[11:41:12] <Arjan> maybe we should move that notification outside the transaction
[11:41:24] <Marc Worrell> https://github.com/zotonic/zotonic/issues/497
[11:42:15] <Marc Worrell> That is also one of my ideas - collect some todo work in the db connection process, to be done after the commit of the transaction.
[11:42:25] <Marc Worrell> Maybe a "oncommit" and "onrollback" ?
[11:42:40] <Marc Worrell> (indeed #rsc_update_done)
[12:05:40] <Protagores> Hi thar~
[12:10:48] <Protagores> Does "dropbox filename" in the mailing list module denote Dropbox.com file hosting exclusively, or just any URI that is direct link to uploaded file?
[12:25:48] <Arjan> hey
[12:25:54] <Arjan> it has not to do with dropbox.com at all
[12:26:04] <Arjan> every site can have a folder called files/dropbox
[12:26:18] <Arjan> if you put a file in there, modules get notified and can decide to do something
[12:45:10] <Protagores> so, it basically checks a folder with that name for its contents... over HTTP? there might be just well a frontend with accessing files via JS rather than anchors at all
[12:50:58] <Arjan> no not over HTTP it is just a local folder
[12:52:35] <Protagores> ahh.. but how is it accessed remotely? is there a REST API or smth?
[12:52:58] <Arjan> no you're just expected to copy a file in there over SSH or something
[12:53:52] <Protagores> will it work if I mount a ftp folder there?
[12:55:09] <Arjan> I think so yes
[12:55:29] <Protagores> or even, make files/dropbox a symlink to a mounted ftp folder
[12:55:45] <Arjan> sure
[12:56:23] <Protagores> cool
[13:33:51] Protagores is now known as protagores
[15:02:20] <maas.maarten.zeeman> Nice transaction stuff marc.
