[19:47:20] <lsdriscoll> Hi ,
[19:49:14] <lsdriscoll> really quick one: On your guide for installing zotonic on apt based systems, you mention that sections of the tutorial must be performed as the zotonic shell - but there is no mention of how to do that or what the password is. Other than that the guide is perfect =] I thought this would be worth mentioning.
[20:06:18] <arjan> hi
[20:06:25] <arjan> thanks for the remark :)
[20:06:41] <arjan> we always suppose there is a separate 'zotonic' user under which zotonic runs
[20:06:48] <arjan> so I guess the guide refers to that.
[20:10:17] <lsdriscoll> yeah I guessed that would be the case. However, it seems the zotonic user is now created by the install script (unless I am wrong there), so when you are installing you do not enter the password manually and therefore will not be able to know the password and login to the shell =]
[20:10:34] <arjan> ok..
[20:10:46] <arjan> I usually use sudo to switch users
[20:10:52] <arjan> e.g., sudo su - zotonic
[20:11:40] <lsdriscoll> ...good point... =]
[20:12:06] <Marc Worrell> I don't even know the password of the zotonic user on zotonic.com :p
[20:12:31] <lsdriscoll> ahh :)
[20:13:39] <arjan> if youre on ubuntu you can also try the ppa: https://launchpad.net/~arjan-scherpenisse/+archive/zotonic/
[20:13:52] <arjan> also creates a zotonic user
[20:15:35] <lsdriscoll> cheers :-D
[20:17:45] <arjan> we're in the process of revamping the documentation
[20:18:10] <arjan> will take some time though
[20:21:29] <lsdriscoll> aha yes, I saw survey 2. My team mate & I posted for it.
The install guide http://zotonic.com/documentation/858/install-on-apt-based-systems is excellent now btw. I'd previously tried the one on michaelconnors.com & it gave me a headache
[20:22:02] <arjan> good to know
[20:22:43] <arjan> simplifying the installation process is another one of the spearpoints :)
[20:23:33] <Marc Worrell> yeah, make the things that should be easy easier
[20:24:14] <Marc Worrell> we have many hard things that are now easy or even automatic - we forgot about the easy things (or rather we didn't need them ourselves, so ignored it)
[20:29:10] <lsdriscoll> well everyone here is seriously impressed with the work you guys are doing (not trying to be a kiss ass ;-)).
I have to go now but before I do... is it try they are changing the laws in Holland so that only residents can use the coffee shops? (I'm taking a trip down near christmas)
[20:32:19] <arjan> yeah something like that
[20:32:29] <arjan> but I don't think it's in effect yet in most of the country
[20:32:33] <arjan> only in the souht
[20:32:39] <arjan> *south
[20:32:49] <arjan> if they do that in amsterdam, all the tourists wil stay away :P
[20:33:37] <lsdriscoll> ah I knew it ;-) cheers.
[20:33:39] <lsdriscoll> Bye!
